You’re living in an apartment and all you have for outdoor space is a tiny patio for outdoor gardening. Space is limited and shared between a bistro set and a couple average looking pots with plants that you’re not sure if are alive or barely alive.
How can an organic garden be possible in such a tight spot if gardening is a passionate hobby? What is the garden tower project and can it make gardening easier?

How Garden Tower Project Works
The Garden Tower is quite ingenious in its design as it has plants along the outer rings with access to rich compost in the middle. The plants roots reach the fertilized soil within weeks and the worms within the tube give new lessons on vermiculture.
Here’s a better description:
- food scraps go into the top of the compost tube where the worms break it down further for food while their waste nourishes the soil.
- watering the tower garden moves those bits of scraps and such down to ensure all the roots get nutrients.
- more holes in the compost tube allowing root access to more composted soil.
- the Garden Tower 2 now rotates for easy accessibility to all plants.

Shipping, Returns and Guarantees
Shipping – most packages are octagonal with dimensions of 25”x23”x23” making it a fairly substantial package to ship. Garden Tower ships most packages with FedEx out of the United States, with USPS used for Post Office boxes, US states or territories outside of the continental 48 states and Canada. Remote locations may bring extra expensive charges. Distribution centers are located in Canada and Australia with centers soon to be opening in Europe.
Returns – Unopened boxes can be returned before 30 days, but the customer is required to pay the return shipping charges. A return label and deduction of shipping can be refunded once the product is received back to the company. With certain fees being applied to the returned item, it may be significantly more costly to return the item. If the package is unopened and returned after the 30 days, a 15% restocking fee is applied along with the 30-day return policy. In special cases the restocking fee may be waived.
Guarantee – the product is well-built and durable with an overall dry weight of 36 pounds. With a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty against defective parts, applying wheels onto the tower without the caster wheel kit will void the warranty. Any concerns can be directed to the blue support button on the bottom right hand of the website and all parts will be supplied at no extra cost to the customer. There is also a Learning Center tab on the top of the website that gives pointers for tower growers as well as FaceBook groups for extra support.
Who can Participate in the Garden Tower Project?
When it comes to gardening, there is no skill limit required. Anyone who shows the interest and patience to plant foods are skilled enough to start. The challenge that is gardening is that it’s all trial and error, sometimes with loss of plants or a lucky bountiful yield. Every year is different and every year brings new challenges but with this product, it ensures a higher yield with its vermicompost tube running down the middle.
The beautiful aspect with gardening, besides enjoying all the vibrantly colorful fruits and vegetables, is that it’s educational to learn all there is to know about gardening. There’s almost a science in knowing the right mixture for making the perfect compost, or knowing when to water and how much, even what to feed the plants requires a certain amount of knowledge to make everything safe for human consumption. This comes with teaching and it offers purchasing for schools all through email.
If schooling is not the right path for your Garden Tower Project and all that is needed is the towers to give you more vertical space for your home, there are options to buy in wholesale. Inquiries can be sent via email through their website.

Earth is Heart!
This is highly ingenious. I love to grow vegetables in my home garden but I have a very little space. This looks like a solution to my challenge. And I am excited to see how the vertical garden will hold as much as 50 plants and still carry it’s soil in such a way a to make regular nutrients available for the plants. Top of it is the recycled material
I completely agree with you! The Garden Tower Project IS an excellent solution for those who want to grow their own vegetables but have limited space. The vertical design of the tower allows for up to 50 plants to be grown in a single unit, which is a remarkable feat of engineering.
The use of composting in the center shaft of the tower is a particularly innovative feature of this system. This ensures that the plants have a consistent source of nutrients, as the decomposing organic matter provides a steady supply of fertilizer to the surrounding soil.
Another great feature of The Garden Tower Project is its use of recycled materials in its construction. This makes it a sustainable and eco-friendly option for home gardeners who want to reduce their environmental impact.
Overall, I think The Garden Tower Project is a fantastic example of how innovation and creativity can help solve real-world problems. It’s an excellent choice for anyone who wants to grow their own vegetables but has limited space or wants a more efficient way to garden.
It’s also being utilized in school centers to aid students in understanding how this type of project is beneficial, plus it allows them to have an abundance of fresh produce in the school setting…Food for thought!
Thank you for your comment!
Hello there,
I loved reading about this garden tower project. I actually live in a small apartment and like you pointed out I only have a small amount of space, and I have tried growing in conventional pots some food. I think this garden tower is an excellent way to grow a rich source of food. You say it allows space to grow 50 plants in 4 foot area, this is wonderful. Can you tell me though do you need to refresh the soil, or empty it to regrow plants after harvesting? Or because the worms are in there, does the soil stay okay for a new seed regrowth?
Thanks for a very good read, very important to know how to grow food in a small space.
Kind regards
Erica
Hi Erica,
Thank you for your comment, and I’m glad to hear that you found my review helpful. The Garden Tower Project is indeed a great option for people living in small apartments, as it maximizes the growing space available.
To answer your question, the Garden Tower should have the soil refreshed periodically to ensure that it remains fertile for new plant growth. The worms in the tower do help to break down organic matter and create a nutrient-rich environment for plants to grow, but eventually, the soil will become depleted of nutrients and will need to be replaced. Typically, the soil in the Garden Tower should be refreshed every 2-3 years.
When it comes time to refresh the soil, you can either empty the tower completely or simply remove the top few layers of soil and add fresh compost or potting soil to the top. Either way, the worms will continue to work their magic and help create a healthy environment for new plant growth.
I hope that answers your question, and please let me know if you have any other questions about the Garden Tower Project!
